Hi,
I'm a newbie and I'm just getting used to the site when I came across this section and felt I had to post this. My 3 grankids went on holidays last summer with a group called ATE (Active Training & Education). They do residential weeks called 'superweeks'. They are all different themes. One did the singing specialist week, another did the week where they do more outside stuff, assault courses, canoeing, that kind of thing and I think the younger one did a 'week with no name'- not sure what that was about! I was a little anxious to start with cos they hadn't been away on their own before and their mum is a bit of a worrier, but honestly, I'm so glad they went! We collected them from the station and they spent a couple of days with us as my daughter and her hubby had used the time to go on holiday themselves! They came back happy, seemed more confident, singing loads of crazy songs that we sang in the car and the adventures they had! Swimming, day trips, making stuff, drama. Best of all, they made lots of new friends, I can't believe how well it went. We didn't even have to take them to the centre, just our local train station, they were picked up by a 'monitor' (young leader type person) and other children! I wondered if any one else had heard of this organisation and what your experiences were if you have. I'm so glad I found it for our grankids and just had to share and on top of it all my daughter and her hubby had some much needed r&r!
Mandelson failed security vetting. Starmer says he didn’t know
