We have booked a weeks holiday to take little grandson to Normandy over half term in May. My annual insurance is with the bank and this is not normally a problem. But....I am having neurological investigations which are ongoing and I may not have a diagnosis by the time we go - these things are sometimes difficult to tie down. My Bank says they wont insure me for this "undiagnosed condition" so I will have to look elsewhere. Have rung a couple of firms but none will underwrite it. Has anyone had the same problem? I don't want to go out uninsured.

We go through this every year - the choice you have is to insure for everything but your problem; or to pay a hefty premium to cover it.

Here are some total exclusions, and I would guess that they are wary of insuring you because there is no clear diagnosis.

Unfortunately there may be no solution to this - but some things are covered by your EHICC - not flight back to Britain though.

thanks Mishap. I cant think that this particular problem is going to result in sudden illness and I am covered for osteoporeosis and for GERD so the Bank would cover that, I am sure. The neurologists are still doing tests. I have to go for scans over two days very shortly and then I might get a diagnosis. However, they are testing for bulbar onset motor neurone disease and that is the last thing I want to hear! We will have to wait and see what goes, and then make enquiries, I suppose. Thanks for replying.
