car hire

Because our cars are both a bit elderly we have booked a hire car to go to the Commonwealth Games . I have been lucky enough to get some extra tickets for the swimming so we need to travel the day before. Original car hire was from Thursday to Monday because they do not open on Sunday to return car . I now need the car from Wednesday but it wants to charge me for a whole week which is twice the original quote. Anybody else experienced this?

Can't you tell them where to go cancel and look elsewhere? Sounds like a rip-off.

I am not able to actually speak to them until they open tomorrow. I was getting a discount as we use the same company for work. I have looked at other companies and they all seem to want to charge for a week when it would only be 5 days confused

I would certainly look elsewhere if they don't come up with a better offer,as regarding not opening on Sunday's can't you just drop the car off on their forecourt and deposit the keys in their postbox that is what our local car rental place ask's clients to do.

Spoke to them today and apparently there are bands for hiring of three or four days then it jumps to a week. It seems to be the same for most hire companies. The stupid thing is I am only renting for four days because they will not let me return the car on a Sunday!
