Malta in January?

I'm hoping to meet Bellasn there on dec 2, which will be the day before my 70th birthday

Perhaps that's so that you don't bring it with you!

Or so they don't have to hospitalise you.

I spent last Christmas in Malta and it was definitely cool, and rained a lot.
But apparently we were just unlucky. We stayed in St.Julian's Bay. There were plenty of bars, restaurants etc. open, and no shortage of places to shop etc. In fact, the only thing we found closed was the outdoor pool at the hotel.
Having never been to Malta before, I was surprised at what a busy, bustling place it is. We caught buses all over the place and everywhere seemed to be the same. I hope you have a great time. Take a cardigan and a mac though!

We went to Bugibba in January a few years ago and we have pictures paddling in the sea. It was sunny during the day but quite chilly at night. I remember sitting outside a bar in Valletta and nipping into a cheap shop to buy a gilet because I was cold!

As much as we enjoyed Malta and Gozo- it would not be my destination for January. Much rather go to La Gomera or anywhere in the Canaries (except Las Americas/Los Christianos area of Tenerife).

I am in Qawra at this very moment staying in the San Antonio Hotel and Spa.
It's 28 degrees and beautiful but i have no experience of January weather here.
The general Qawra area doesn't have much/anything in the way of culture but there are plenty of busses to get about and do the culture sights, valletta

Just wanted to mention, in case you haven't yet booked your hotel, that we are over the moon with the standard here, hotel is superb - at least it is at this time of year. The rooms are beautiful, and food is excellent and way beyond any criticism.

Flu jab wasn't mentioned to us.

Thanks again everyone. Coolgran - I will take a look at your hotel. We are having second thoughts to be honest. DH is due to start seven and a half weeks of radiotherapy this week and we thought a little break in January when it is all over might be just the ticket. We just wanted somewhere cheap and cheerful but he has since said it might not be a good idea as the hospital may call him for further tests etc. We will consider Malta for the summer perhaps.

We went to Barcelona one February half term and it was perfect - sunny days and slightly cooler evenings. But as for January - not sure...

What are eating out/drinks prices like in Malta please?
