Holiday cottage for 2 Rutland

Hosted the Christmas dinner for the village Seniors today- and the lovely Vicar asked me if I knew of a traditional holiday cottage for 2, in a traditional Rutland village- for him and his wife, late April or May, for 2 weeks. Problem is, their budget is small, and I've looked at cottage rental website and prices are quite high. Any brilliant ideas for them? Thanks all.

Perhaps a Mobile Home?

Try the Rutland Tourist Board (if such a thing exists). Or one of the local papers after Christmas when all the holiday adverts begin. I know one or two people in Oakham/Uppingham I'll ask around!

What about a Youth Hostel. You don't have to be a "youth" to enjoy a stay with them. My DD and her family had a lovely stay in a Youth Hostel in the North of Scotland during the summer holidays.

Or what about a house swap?

Thanks Kitty. Maybe another Vicar- maybe they could do a Vicar exchange?
Our Vicar lives in a lovely village, and next to a very old Abbey where they make great Champagne?

hilda- we stayed in so many YHAs when the kids were little. and you are right. Mainly Peak District and Norfolk, but also 'Boggle Hole' near Robbin Hoods bay (our girls called it a bit different ;) ).
