I'm staying with my youngest daughter who has a television and I've noticed quite a few adverts for summer holidays. My daughter is already making plans for hers; anyone else decided where you'll be holidaying next year?
I'm hoping to visit my older daughter in New Zealand.

I am a grump in this department.
I get bored after 5 days anywhere. Dont know why.
I dont much care for lakes or mountains either.
One of my sons lives 5000 miles away, and wants us to visit. It is a very nice city according to everyone.
Am I looking forward to it? No.

Well, glass crun and Ana, I haven't got a gate so I'll be staying 'round ours' grin

Ana Sun 28-Dec-14 20:02:08

Australia and NZ for a month in a few weeks time for my 60th and DH's 65th. As we're both retiring on small pensions this could be our last "big" holiday until we win the lottery. We'll come back and cuddle up in our onesies with the heating turned off, watching those 600 episodes of Pointless we've recorded. grin

Me too. sad

Tenerife here we come February/March leaving the cold behind for 3 weeks. This is an annual event since retiring. Has been booked six months in advance then again we go in November missing the damp - this helps my husbands health as he has asthma which comes to the fore during these months. sunshine

Am off to New Zealand again in February (4th trip out there) to attend my daughter's wedding. Given half a chance, I would emigrate to NZ as I love the country, but I feel that my other two children (and my 3 grandchildren in the UK) may see that as selfish.......A topic for another forum, maybe?

I love Burgh Island nina smile

glammanana I did do it earlier in my life. Backpacked, travelled and worked in other countries as did DH before we met.

I do agree though, for anyone who has the opportunity to travel it's a wonderful experience.

Sicily again in April- the South Coast this time. And a week at a spa resort in the Swiss Alps first week of July (a timeshare exchange week- just a couple of hours drive and we can take the doggies there.

Bruges in the Spring, just waiting on dates before booking, then a trip to Jersey at some point.

Yorkshire and Devon already booked for the summer and will see what else crops up nearer the time.

Same attitude here tiggypiro I can imagine nothing worse than reaching an age when you cannot travel to these places and say "if only I did it earlier" in my life.
We have just booked mainland Spain for May for OHs birthday and for Iceland later in the year a place we have wanted to visit for a long time so we have a nice year ahead.

I have the same attitude as annsixty and Marmight and try and do as much as possible while I can. I am already booked for Beijing to see DD and DGS's in February and am planning a trip to Australia for next back-end. In between there will likely be a visit to Spain to see DS and DGS's and one or two short breaks in the UK. Skiing is no longer possible (worse luck) but SKI certainly is !

We are having a weekend away in February and a river cruise in April but have nothing planned for later in the year. We also dislike long haul flights (or flying at all really)

Morecambe, with my doggie, probably without my son, anytime as I have a friend with apartments. Lovely. A little bit of independence for both me and my son. smile

March/April to California to DS1 & family with a few nights in Washington DC on the way back then a rail tour of Scotland in May.

Ariadne Fri 26-Dec-14 17:44:18

KazuluNatal in the spring to look at our last (Rotary) volunteer educational project, and a luxurious trip to Australia, returning via Singapore in the Autumn, to celebrate our golden wedding, and also because, with all the operations I have had this year, holidays have been on hold.

One more op to go...

HildaW Fri 26-Dec-14 14:59:52

I've got my 60th booked. River cruise to Venice then on to Florence and Rome.

Marmight Fri 26-Dec-14 14:43:24

Sydney in February and again hopefully in December when I am going to investigate travelling by sea. Would like to do the Ghan from Adelaide to Darwin too at some point....... well, as they say in these parts, 'there are no pockets in a shroud', so I may as well SKI tchgrin

Agus Fri 26-Dec-14 14:39:57

In that case, it makes sense to book and in certain circumstances it is necessary to book ahead. I know how much you enjoy your cruising Galen smile

NfkDumpling Fri 26-Dec-14 14:36:10

Birding, wildlife and whale watching on a boat in the Gulf of California (Baja). Another holiday of a lifetime! GKnot - We went to the Okavanga two years ago as part of a wildlife trip with Saga. Only there for three nights. So wish it could have been longer, it was wonderful!

Galen Fri 26-Dec-14 14:30:20

Because I need a disabled room I have to book ahead! Both these cruises are southampton to southampton.

Agus Fri 26-Dec-14 13:59:27

Haven't 'booked' a holiday for years. We just get up and go if we are in the mood for a break somewhere.

We have had our fill of long haul flights and now either drive or fly within Europe. DD2 would like us to visit her in Australia but the thought of so many hours cramped in a plane, which some friends do every year, is just something I wouldn't want to do now.

Galen Fri 26-Dec-14 13:27:11

Med on QE in September, xmas on queen Victoris in the canaries. ( the disabled cabins on the QE were already booked up)
