It's wet windy nasty day here in Lancashire at the mo..... if someone said "right pack a bag and be ready in hour, where would you go for the weekend to be back Sunday evening? hmm

ohh I would love to visit all these places..maybe! I need to hire the Motorhome a little longer grin (and get a passport)!

My first thought was Bologna for a foodie weekend. But maybe just get into the car and drive down to the Loire, which is only just over two hours away.
Don't come to Normandy; the wind is really cold!

Whitstable in Kent. A lovely little town full of character and charm with lots of nice pubs and restaurants. Perfect for a weekend break.

The Christina, left bank, Paris. I will never tire of visiting Paris and the left bank is my favourite area.

My love to Provence too Marmight. We lived there for 10 years. I have just watched Monty Don in Aix, a favourite city of mine.

no contest...I would pack a bag and go down to South Devon, to the Frogwell B&B in Strete - only 3 letting rooms all of which are fabulous, the owners are lovely (you get home made cake on arrival, whatever time it is!) and the breakfasts are to die for. There are not one but two local pubs within a minutes stroll (one to try each evening - and neither would disappoint - I know I've done both!!) There are cliff walks, lovely beaches and the pretty Slapton Ley all on the doorstep. Just the perfect place for a stress free weekend break - no airports, no queuing, just fresh air and lots of lovely blue sea...

I'd fly off to Gibraltar and visit with my son, partner and littlest grandson for the weekend.. its nice and warm there 25* as opposed to 14*here , I'm freezing in West London.grin

I wish you'd said Marmight. We've just booked this year's stay! Though, to be fair, I've never broken my skull while we've been there! confused

Fly to Nice 20 degrees now. I'm shivering wrapped in a pashmina next to a radiator.

I would go to the Three Ways House Hotel in the Cotswolds, for the walking and also the Pudding Club. I have never been, but it has been on my wish list for some time.

Give my love to Provence, Marmight, I'm not going to be there this year because DS2 and family have sold the caravan and are going camping in Corsica. Much as I love the island, I draw the line at being under canvas - especially as I've experienced the majestic thunderstorms they have there quite frequently.

bikergran Fri 29-May-15 16:03:11

Oh heck! Marmight will cross Brudenell off list ! shock

missmouse Fri 29-May-15 15:57:33

The pig in the new forest in hampshire.
Gorgeous food and a comfy bed. Could seriously do with a rest there

Marmight Fri 29-May-15 15:46:03

Imprinted !

Marmight Fri 29-May-15 15:45:28

I'm going to Provence tomorrow. Can't wait to warm up - it's freezing here at DD's in West London.
Kitty I was staying at the Brudenell when I had an 'accident' with a lifeboat in 1959. I broke my skull - Indelibly printed on my brain wink

loopylou Fri 29-May-15 15:44:01

kittylester Fri 29-May-15 15:33:54

durhamjen Fri 29-May-15 15:19:51

Haven't had a passport for over ten years, so abroad is out. Even if I had, I'd still choose York.

aggie Fri 29-May-15 15:15:56

Oh anywhere !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well maybe Edinburgh , got three offspring and four granddaughters there , they do keep asking me but I hate airports

hildajenniJ Fri 29-May-15 15:07:46

A mini cruise from Port of Tyne to Amsterdam. At this time of year the Keukenhoff Gardens are beautiful.
I wish I was there.

merlotgran Fri 29-May-15 14:57:46

Yes. If I only had a weekend I'd steer clear of airports. Knowing my luck there'd be a baggage handlers strike or something.

ninathenana Fri 29-May-15 14:55:28

I hate airports (I do like flying) and live on the coast so I think it would be somewhere in Lake district with stunning views and a lovely gastro pub near by.
