Driving on Jersey

We've been to Jersey several times and stayed in St Helier.
Roads around the island are quite narrow.
Friends had told us not to bother hiring a car and so we didn't.
The buses were excellent and not expensive.
We took a few tours including an all day tour, as it seems we get so much more background information with a good guide.

Thanks Galen I heard that the parking was difficult and expensive I guess we could hire a car if we really wanted too but could wait till we get there...

I'm flying there (in September) and hiring a car.

Bus service is excellent. Taxis good. Hire cars easy if you need one, parking is very difficult.
We used to sail there on our own boat then rely on feet and public transport. Easy.u

Thinking of travelling to Jersey by ferry just wondering if anyone has done this and did you take your own car? How was it for driving on Jersey? I read that it gets pretty busy and congested in the Summer months so wondering if it would be better to leave the car behind and travel down on the train to get the ferry then use local buses on Jersey. Be interested in anyone who has been.
