Eating out in Copenhagen

Does anyone have advice on nice places to eat in Copenhagen that won't break the bank? We are staying on the river not too far from tivoli gardens and also like the Nyhaven area. Only there for one day and would love a few suggestions.

There is no river in Copenhagen, you'll be on the canal side!
Loads of good places to eat without spending over the odds so it depends what you want. Jensons steak house (bofhus) are always good and they are dotted around the city. I'm useless with names but there's a lovely little Greek restaurant just along from Radhusenplaza in the city centre.
Nyhavn is very nice too but it can be expensive, all the menus are on view though so you can check things out before sitting down! The Rio Bravo on Stormgade (a 3 minute walk from Tivoli) is the place to go for the Danish dish of fried (think it's actually baked!) pork with potatoes and parsley sauce and you pay per person for as much as you can eat. smile
Of course, there are the many sausage stands ... the husband recommends the one outside the central train station across from Tivoli. grin

Duff info from the husband! This is the link to the real Danish food place ...I have been and eaten the stuff and it's actually nice.

Thanks for food advice. Will take a look at your suggestions.going with another couple and he's a fussy eater so me bit nervous about finding decent food that doesn't break the bank.
You are right it's a canal not a river .....I just think of it as a river because it's so wide in parts . And so pretty.

Dear thingamajig ......another question. As we are only there for a day before joining a cruise I don't want to take lots of Krone,. Do they take euros, US dollars, or sterling? Or do we just use card ? All advice gratefully received .
