In a couple of weeks we are going as foot passengers by Ferry to Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, then catching two buses to visit the Botanical Gardens in Ventnor.

Has anyone visited these gardens and have any advice on making the best of our day ?

The gardens are really enjoyable, whenever we have visited the Island we have made a point of making time to walk round the Gardens, it is worth the effort. Last time we visited there was a very nice little cafe for light refreshments. Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks Printmiss we are off to New Forest on Friday and will definitely make a trip to the Botanical Gardens. The cafe sounds good too.

The weather looks set fair.

We were there two years ago. Always worth a visit. Ventnor is lovely.

…….. you may have already been by now ……. but …...I was in the Gardens the other week for YogaVibe! Sadly I found them rather neglected this year but it is still a great place to walk around. Last year there was amazing display of agapanthus in the top garden (Arid Garden) (used to be a playground when my children were small) near the Tropical Glass House. There is a cafe upstairs that you can use without paying to go in the Gardens (and another one downstairs once you have paid to go in.) If you do go, there is also a wonderful "museum" type display of when the site was a TB hospital. It is in a small building along the top road - alongside the car park, but you cannot get in that way! It is called Heritage Centre. You used to be able to get down into Steephill Cove from the Gardens - not sure if you still can - may have to climb under a fence! Do check the bus times carefully as I don't think they don't run very often!
Hope you have a lovely day and enjoy the crossing. It is my favourite one, especially when you go back into Lymington.

Thanks Nanabelle for all the helpful advice. Will check out the bus times.

The Ferry trip is just wonderful on a clear sunny day arriving back in Lymington for supper before returning to our holiday cottage in the Forest.
