Help Going Gloucester -Rain forecast!

it does rain there sometimes that's why it is so lovely and green!

All these places I haven't been to, must try Batsford Aboretum.
Mind you, we often arrive somewhere thinking we've never been before and find we have - it must be a sign of old age.
We've been to Newark Park four times - but I can remember it now!

Haha! Well, we go to Broadway a lot for a morning or afternoon, and it nearly always rains......is it just us?

Dr Foster only goes there when it's raining - and contrary to what rosesarered said it doesn't rain that much! well, sometimes, but not as much as Plymouth or Cardiff

How nice to see a follow-up to an earlier enquiry. Although I have been to Broadway and Cheltenham I don't know the area, so was pleased to read of various sites recommended by GNers 'just in case' I visit in the future. It was also helpful to read the verdict on suggestions acted upon by Mr & Mrs Cherrytree. GN at its best

A lovely break in a beautiful part of the UK
The weather was kind.
As suggested we visited the lovely Rococo gardens and Painswick village (agree beautiful!)
Westbury Water gardens again lovely.
Also visited the Snowshill garden which was a joy and the house (house too chaotic for me)
Snowshill village is very picturesque.
We also did an enjoyable evening stroll and drink in Broadway.
Because the weather was so good, we did not do any of the indoor things that had been kindly suggested.
We will try and do another Short break in Gloucester sometime next year.
We have kept a list of all GNer suggestions

Gloucestershire is lovely, but it does rain a lot there, we Brits are used to it though and always carry an umbrella.I remember reading a BIll Bryson book where he stated that he knew he had become an honorary Brit when on a rainy day in a seaside cafe, the waitress put down a scone and cup of tea on the table and he remarked 'ooh, lovely!' We are a grateful lot here, and easily pleased!

Painswick Rococo Gardens are not far away, both they and the village are stunning.

All of the above plus, if you like art, nature/animals or both then Nature in Art is worth a visit although I'm not sure if the opening times will coincide with your trip:

I don't know which direction you are coming from/going home from but there are lots of National Trust places around, especially in the Cotswolds. Snowshill Manor is extremely interesting and well worth a visit if it is en route and, of course, Hidcote, weather permitting.

Don't miss the city museum, Gloucester was very important to the Romans and there are some excellent displays. You'll also find a Celtic mirror and a silk purse (think sow's ear!) and upstairs a random selection of everything from pottery to early computers! The cafe is good too. It's not a big museum but it'll fill in a rainy couple of hours if need be.
Beyond the renovated docks area is the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal along which you can have a lovely walk. The Waterways Museum is also worth a visit.
The centre of Gloucester has plenty of shops and nice markets. Gloucester is also on the edge of the Cotswolds so you can take a train to Cheltenham and Stroud, both interesting places to visit and not far away.

I'm a Harry Potter fan, so appreciate the extra info.

I think the the Abbey is on our itinerary.

Shopping, coffee and cake in the dock yard is a must.

I live in Gloucester and yes it is raining at the moment. I would recommend a visit to the cathedral which is a truly beautiful building, remember Harry potter being filmed there in the cloisters. A visit to the docks is also a must many old warehouses have now been turned into shops and museums. There is also a covered shopping precinct at the dockyard , many restaurants and coffee shops to get warm after a tour in the cold. On the outskirts of Gloucester there is Prinknash Abbey where the monks make and sell wine, plus a garden to view.

Don't step in any puddles, remember Dr Foster ?.
The Cathedral is lovely.
