I have had annual medical insurance for over ten years, I pay a high premium, but have never needed to make a claim. That insurance expires at the end of October and as my wife and I want to travel to see members of our family in Australia & New Zealand early in the new year. I tried to renew the Insurance without any changes to my medication.

I have received a letter informing me that now I am over 85, I am am not eligible with them for medical travel insurance.

Can anybody recommend a suitable company who can offer me cover without it costing an arm and leg?

Thank you

James

Seems from the lack of response, there are no suitable insurance companies around that provide reasonable priced medical coverage for travel got over 85's.

Have you tried Saga?

Try "Good to go.". My 87 year old mum got cruise insurance with them last month. It was very expensive though.

Do you mean regular travel insurance or is medical insurance something different?

If the former, then a quick Google reveals that Allclear www.allcleartravel.co.uk and Staysure www.staysure.co.uk offer policies for over 85's and there are also others. I've no experience of them, though.

I think that there was a post recently on the subject of medical insurance.

Thank you to those who have responded. I have tried a local Insurance broker, not very impressed so far. Will keep trying.

I saw leaflet in an Age Concern shop yesterday about travel insurance. Might be worth contacting them?

Try www.coverforyou. I have medical history but got a very reasonable annual policy. Not sure what age they cover to but it's worth checking. Enjoy your trip.

Try Holidaysafe, after paying exorbitant prices for my visits to USA from other companies I got a very reasonable quote from Holidaysafe which I couldn't refuse. I even rang them up just to check it was real !!!. I am 81 and no longer qualified for the free insurance with my Bank.

We got a good annual deal through comparethemarket.com, but I'm sure I've heard that one called insurewith is very good.

Sorry, it's called insurancewith !

We have just booked a single trip european insurance for my husband which includes his prostate can cer with a company Called 'get going' for £21!

Checked reviews online after paying and they seem to be quite positive. Noticed an annual insurance for europe would only be £66. Which i think is pretty reasonable.

Didnt check further afield.
