Quietish resorts in Tenerife

We did go to golf del Sur once- oh but the planes. We could practically shake the hand of the pilot and co-pilot- and the plane traffic was constant. Hôtel was great, but never again.

Eloethan I visit Puerto de la Cruz at least once a year. I love it there. Plenty of shops and restaurants and a short walk to the old town. The north does get more rain than the south but have rarely had rain during my holidays (I usually go around March and September). I used to visit the south quite a lot (Los Cristianos) but that was when it was still quite small and before it became so commercialised.

Do the ferries run that time of year?
I would think so because people live there and probably need to get to and fro?

We've only been to Tenerife once and stayed in a really nice hotel in Puerto de la Cruz, which we liked very much. I believe it is more prone to rain (although we were lucky and didn't have any rain at all), which is perhaps why some people prefer to stay in the south of the island. Nevertheless, I thought it was a really nice resort and would go back there again.

I didn't like Lanzarote so perhaps my opinion isn't of much use to you.

It's all a matter of personal taste though isn't it. One of the solicitors I worked for absolutely hated Fuerteventura but other people I've spoken to love it.

When we go to Tenerife in Feb we like to stay on the Golf del Sur. It's not far from the airport and much quieter than Las Americas. There's a lovely walkway by the sea and nice restaurants. It can be a little breezy but we prefer that as it can get quite hot otherwise!

We had a miserable wind-blown February holiday on Fuerteventura some years ago. Unfortunately it put husband off the Canaries - but I live in hope, so will follow this thread.

Puerto de Santiago is a nice quiet place, just a shortish walk from Los Gigantes.Flat too, unlike Los G ( Cardiac Hill) !
Hotels and apartments there, some shops and restaurants.
Warm and sunny, unlike the North of Tenerife.

Why not fly to Tenerife and take the ferry to lovely quiet and wonderful La Gomera?

I've been to Fueterfentura, but it was years ago, so I couldn't say what it would be like now.
I preferred Lanzarote though, out of the two places.

We used to love Los Gigantes and had many happy holidays there but it would be too steep for us now.

People tell me Fuerteventura is very nice and less spoiled than Tenerife. My cousin lives near Adeje and that seems to be very safe. I think you were unlucky in seeing the results of a killing on the beach but remember, this can happen anywhere. When we go on holiday we rarely see the true nature of the place. We aren’t so used to seeing guns in UK but most countries have armed policeman. Good luck in your holiday search.
