Would like to surprise DH with a break on the continent by train. Any hints on the way to find cheapest deals on Eurostar? I believe there are sites that are better to use than ES itself. Also can you use Senior railcards?

The best deals I’ve had in Eurostar have been by booking early on their site. No you can’t use senior railcard. How far do you want to travel?

Probably Bruges and on to Ghent for a short break. Would also like to go to Lake Como by train.

Then Brussels and when you get here to Gare Midi go to the main local booking office in the Station. If you are over 65 and have a railcard you can use it here. Explain what you want (English spoken) and they will help you out.
I would book Hotels before you come and stay in Ghent, it is the most beautiful city in Belguim.
If you have time for a quick tour of Brussels and a bit of history PM me.
