How to transport disabled (non-mobile) Dad across the UK (5-6hrs' drive)?

This past week a similarly completely disabled gentleman from the coastal regions of Pembrokeshire has been transported to the opposite side of Great Britain............his one request was to to pay final respects at the graveside of a very dear former soldier whom had been his soul mate during the most difficult periods of the second world war.

A company owning a helicopter offered to transport him from his very own door right to the graveside.........free of charge.

A delightul story which made this one man extremely happy.

However some very valid points raised here and well worth exploring first.However as I have just mentioned,there are ways and means,but it depends on very many factors....... so certainly not an easy task.
Many questions need asked and verified before even trying to embark on such a journey.

Are you sure he wants to go? My Dad enjoyed trips down memory lane using Google maps, street view.

Have you asked him if he wants to go away? My neighbour was going to go away on a ‘surprise holiday’with his family, he became so stressed that they went without him, he was far happier staying at home with his usual carers in familiar surroundings and his own Doctor nearby.

Try looking at the Red Cross they may help. Do you have plans in place when he gets there? if he can’t mobilise it will be difficult.
