... due to current uncertainties?

Decided not to travel to EU countries this year so going sailing round Turkey in September and Ecuador and Galapagos in November

adaunas Thu 07-Mar-19 20:02:34

No changes, though I admit to contacting the travel company we use and asking for written conformation that they will have covered any eventualities arising from Brexit.

Cruising on the Seine from 12th April. No change for us, back stop or no backstop...

jura2 Thu 07-Mar-19 18:22:52

And this, of course. We always drive or take the train/Eurostar when we travel to and from UK. And really concerned re travelling with our dog - as if No Deal, pet travel may be a big issue.

Oh blow!

Your post at 17:28:55, posted as I typed , tells me I should have gone with my gut instinct which was your OP wanted posts to concur with your usual Remain , we are all going to hell in a hand cart type message.

No change for me either. Germany is the destination. Incidentally, I've just renewed my passport which had three months left. It took ONE week to come through the letterbox. I'm still reeling!

' I asked because many friends have said they were not booking this year until they know more. Same on my skiclub forum and also reports from Holiday companies that bookings were way down on usual."

Well at least you can tell your friends some UK contacts you have via a Forum appear to be more positive in their feedback .

Thank you GranJan 60 - if we leave with No Deal, there will indeed be many changes, including travel insurance, and so many more- as there would be no transition period.

There is probably a good reason why bookings are way down on normal- and obviously many are concerned.

mancgirl Thu 07-Mar-19 17:27:31

I am in Spain now but purposely book a return flight before B day. We have another flight booked to come back in May so one way or another we'll know for sure what's happening by then - won't we?!

Lily65 Thu 07-Mar-19 17:27:25

Stick to chalet in Skeggy, trust me , you can't go wrong. There's entertainment of a night and a chippie.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 07-Mar-19 17:23:36

Even with the EHIC card you still needed insurance, so what is the difference.

Do you really think that the Costas in Spain, The Algarve in Portugal and the South of France (to name just a few) are going to turn away British tourists?

Brits did travel before the EU and I am sure we shall travel after the EU.

jura2 Thu 07-Mar-19 17:22:37

apologies petra- you know- most of us have a lifeoutside GN. CineClub last night and today teaching this morning and then 43 elderly people for lunch and helping with bingo this afternoon - just finished all the cleaning after driving a few to their home...

I asked because many friends have said they were not booking this year until they know more. Same on my skiclub forum and also reports from Holiday companies that bookings were way down on usual.

I am going to SW France early May, then to UK in June - hopefully by then we will know more.

GranJan60 Thu 07-Mar-19 16:40:36

There WILL be changes if we leave with No Deal because there will be no transition period.

petra Thu 07-Mar-19 16:25:21

Another one of those threads where the OP doesn't get back to us wink

Cambia Thu 07-Mar-19 16:22:43

No. We have a house in Greece and will be back and forwards all year. May get an international driving license just to be on the safe side and have checked our passports have long dates but that is all.
Quite frankly think there is a lot of scare mongering going on from both sides of the debate!

VIOLETTE Thu 07-Mar-19 15:43:24

HA HA ! I live in France …..so no idea which channel at the airport I may have to go through …..NON EU I suppose ...or they may not let me back at all !!! …...ok then, I shall claim asylum in the UK …...free everything ! no problems ……grin

sarahellenwhitney Thu 07-Mar-19 15:06:02

Hazeld
I wonder on reading these Brexit doom and gloom predictions how on earth people coped with the fallout, from WW2, that were to change so many peoples lives for ever and with B being nothing in comparison.

Jalima1108 Thu 07-Mar-19 14:59:20

My EU passport is valid for another nine years - I won't get it confiscated and have to stay in somewhere dire like the Amalfi coast, Madeira, a beautiful Greek island will I?
shock

petra Thu 07-Mar-19 14:48:08

Any up dates on the plague of locusts.

POGS Thu 07-Mar-19 14:41:25

jura

Have you? It would be interesting to know as you started a thread on the subject.

What do you know we don't jura? Have you further information ?

We are hoping to visit family in Cyprus in April and so far we have checked our passports should be OK.

We always have Insurance so if reciprocal health care is an issue that will be covered.

If the planes are not flying then we are all buggered but so far I have only seen unreliable stories that could be a reality.

sarahellenwhitney Thu 07-Mar-19 14:21:27

Petra
Re tunnel might closegrin
I recall the day that saw its official opening , and watched it on TV making a recording of it and the shaking of hands of our Queen and the French President .
So should I , were this prediction of grinsuch a disaster come about, then put this recording up for sale to the highest bidder.???

Lily65 Thu 07-Mar-19 14:15:57

No change for us either. We will be going to the chalet at Skeggy . Can't wait.

lemongrove Thu 07-Mar-19 14:10:26

Actually Petra it was more ‘planes will be falling out of the sky’ from some.grin

Nope, am not changing any plans for this year.
Gabriella I like the sound of the driving holiday along the Amalfi coast, we did that years ago BC ( before children) from Sorrento, it was wonderful.
As you drive along, play ‘On Days Like These’ Matt Monroe
(The Italian Job) smile

petra Thu 07-Mar-19 14:01:23

It's obvious that the majority of poster here didn't take heed of Jura2s predictions on 13th Oct. 2018.
Tunnel might close
M26 will be a car park
Ferries will be blocked
And, no flights.
wink

quizqueen Thu 07-Mar-19 13:56:20

mcem, it must be really difficult to live in the USA if you are a Trump supporter because both the Democrats and the Republicans are trying to stop him doing everything he was voted in for!
