Travel insurance advice

I'm fairly sure I know the answer to this question, but just in case I'm wrong...

We're expecting (well our daughter’s expecting) our first grandchild in October and the due date is three or four days after a trip I'm supposed to make. I would assume that travel insurance won't cover the risk of having to arrange a last minute return, after all it's a 'known risk'.

However, do any of you have other experience?

thanks

I doubt very much if the insurance company would pay for an early return. Why would it be necessary?

No, they wouldn’t. Also, I’m with Liz46, why would it be necessary?

I would just enjoy my holiday and look forward to cuddles when I got home

Depending on circumstances- I would cancel my holiday now. I never quite forgot my MIL for saying - don't count on me to help, I'm off with my new beau to Greece (knowing sull well OH worked very long hours and nights and I had NO family in the country). Just depends...

But no insurance will pay for sure.

Why not check out some of the airfares back to UK from your holiday destination? Obviously they would be dearer if booked last minute but you could budget now for that eventuality. Thing is, are you going to return early in your break, DD and baby will wait for you!

It’s up to you whether or not you go....... DIL is having a C Section, we have cancelled our trip as have her parents, neither trips were actually on her “date” but we did not want to take the chance of not being on hand to help.

How long is your trip?
Will she have no help if you're not there? As long as she'll have someone willing and capable for several days I wouldn't worry. I dare say you'll be itching to get back if the wee one arrives while you're away, though.

Our Gdd arrived bang on the due date - her little brother arrived 2 1/2 weeks early.
No. 3 is due 17 days after Christmas - I won't be making any plans for the 4 weeks either side!
