Can anyone please recommend inexpensive but comfortable accommodation {self-catering} in Brittany? All those years we lived in France, we never managed to holiday in the above as it was 1000 kms away. Now living in Dorset it is much closer. Can be an apartment, or other, with double bed, {not Put-U-Up} cooking facilities and own bathroom. Thank you for recommedations.

Bonjour from another person (a gite owner) who lived in France .... Brittany! It is a huge region, each department has a character of its own. Do you prefer country, coast, town?

We also live in Dorset and often holiday in Brittany. Brittany Ferries do very reasonable ferry + gite deals, sailing from Poole (or Portsmouth) to either Cherbourg or Caen, which makes it all really easy.

A quiet area, but with facilities. Walk into town. Not beach people. Cultural activities appreciated. Sunny and warm!
Prefer cooking at home, with the exception of moules{!}
Thanks for suggestions.

Sunny and warm aren't words naturally associated with Brittany but you may strike lucky! In that case you need to head for Southern Brittany (56 Morbihan). Pretty villages include Rochefort en Terre and La Gacilly. Vannes is a lovely town with plenty to see and do. Brittany has a market in every town. I can send you a few suggestions.
