New UK passport

Passport design will gradually reflect Britain's decision to leave the EU trading bloc and become independent. According to Gov.co.uk a new blue passport design will be phased in from early 2020 over several months, and by mid-2020, all new British passports will be blue

I remember getting a black hard cover one just before the new ones were introduced, so I had it long after the red ones came in. They were certainly very smart, but bulky in comparison.

Blue passports, 50p coins - such a lot to look forward to!

At least these are something tangible but I'm hoping for more than this now we've put the 'Great back into Britain'

I’ve just renewed mine, so identify know what colour to expect. It’s all a bit daft, we could have had blue or yellow or purple or rainbow coloured passports anyway. I’m sorry not to be a EU citizen any more.

I'm happy with my new Maroon one that still bears the words "European Union". There are Maroon ones without those words being issued now too. They are being prudent and using the stock they have.

You dont have "an EU passport" post brexit regardless of the colour

I dont care what colour I have there is no difference they all represent the same thing.

Some of our family will have blue some will have purple later this year. There is NO difference they represent the same type of british citizenship and no difference in travek rights

Mine was renewed last year but I just wondered if we will have to apply for a UK one now (free of charge of course) or if we will be allowed to keep our EU ones?

Just received my new uk passport and was disappointed when received the same maroon colour as my old European one.

My passprt was due for renewal last year and I was so delighted to know that I will have a European passport for 9 years into Brexit. I am also applying for an Irish passport, thanks to an Irish grandfather.

No I purposely renewed mine early so I could keep my EU passport for the rest of my life I can’t see me needing another renewal in ten years time but too old by then
