Opioids and Morocco

ExD1938, the patches I use are Fentanyl slow release, so it's supposed to be a measured dose all the time.
I was on morphine tablets at one time, which caused nausea, but they didn't help.

I hope you can allay yours fears, I can fully understand your anxiety.
Before I flew to New York, I was a nervous wreck, convinced I was going to be arrested for drug smuggling at immigration, as I had a carry on bag full of medication. ?
I asked if they wanted to check my meds and they waved me through, without even looking at them.

Government website suggests you contact the Moroccan Embassy if you are unsure about your medication.
Knowing how difficult it can be to carry Morphine into other countries a quick check will allay any fears. Plus, keep your prescription handy when you fly back into the U.K.

ExD1938 a few years ago we were flying from Manchester airport it was a long haul flight. There was a lady in a wheelchair with her husband speaking to one of the security staff. She had a large bottle of medication (more than 100mls) and what looked like papers, possibly letters and original prescriptions. She was allowed through once everything had been checked so there must be some allowances made. They allow babies bottles of milk through security as long as mum or dad taste it so why not medicine.

ExD1938, re your 500 ml bottle of meds.
Would it be possible to ask the pharmacy to dispense it in 100 ml bottles x 5?
I have no idea whether this is possible, but it may be worth asking.

The bottle of oramorph comes in a 500ml bottle .
- so no chance on putting it in hand baggage I imagine.
I think I'll have to ask my GP for the patches and keep them with me.
The insurance is sorted at HUGE cost, I just hope the patches give as good relief cover as the liquid.
I also have had my baggage delayed several days and it would be pretty bad if this happened again.
I also was called to a little cell like room once in Nantes because they thought my hair dryer was a gun, That was years ago and I assume it contained more metal than they do now. That was scary.

I just checked trip advisor. The general consensus seems to be it's ok ( with prescription)

I would put any medication in your hand luggage. There’s less chance then of it going astray and it shows you aren’t trying to hide anything. Look on the Government website for information about Morocco and their laws re opioid medication.

I travelled to New York recently with opiod patches, all in my hand luggage. I looked online before travelling to see what I had to do? Have you tried a search for Morocco, asking this question.

I would be concerned if my luggage went astray and the medication lost. Once I put some of my medication in the hold to save me carrying it home from a trip to Rome and my bags were opened and searched. Hold baggage is ex-rayed, so my pills must have been picked up on the x-ray.
Another time my luggage went missing, so any medication would be lost if it had been in the hold.

I often travel with opiods and I put everything in my hand luggage, all in origonal packaging , complete with repeat prescription sheets, and any necessary letters.
You also have to declare you are using certain opiods on your travel insurance, I have to do so.

Please don't take any chances.
