Well, at least he's talking about it, so that's a positive. Can you encourage him to get some counselling? If not, keep talking to him, it is obviously he feels comfortable in speaking to you about it and gains some reassurance from you. Has he considered antidepressants? If he is so low, he really needs to go to his GP. Good luck, hope he gets help.

It does sound like he needs to see his GP.As he is close to you perhaps you could offer to go to the appointment with him?
Also make sure he has Samaritans number in case he needs it.

Ask him what he needs from you. Talk to him when he is in a better frame of mind and come up with a plan for when he is struggling . He may want you to just listen or to remind him of better times or calm him with breathing techniques.Just having a plan in place can help so much your grandson will know he is going to feel better.

Just wondering how old is your Grandson? He sounds like he is really close to you as he shares the fact he is feeling low.

Is his mum aware that he is not feeling as good as he could be?
Look on-line under Mental Health their are some help-lines that deal with adolescents rather than adults get some phone numbers for him and give them to him.
It can be a little upsetting when a loved family member shares these problems always remember care as well for your own mental health and keep yourself strong.

Been thinking he may suffer from SAD during the winter months and need Vit D supplement? NHS reckon we should all take it in Uk as main source is from Sun .It won't be a miracle cure but it can't do any harm to try.
