Camping holidays.. could this avoid the virus?

Me too Callistemon rather stay with my home comforts.

The thought of tramping across a field to share toilet and shower facilities with others makes me shudder, although I did plenty of that in my youth.

I'd rather stay at Argate.
Or a self-contained cottage like yours GrandmaKT.

We have a small holiday cottage in the Lake District. Today I had my first Coronavirus cancellation. I gave them a full refund, but hope everyone doesn't request one! I'd have thought staying in a self contained cottage, travelling by car, would be as safe as staying at home. I'm in New Zealand art the moment though, so maybe I'm out of touch with the latest advice?

We have several trips in the motorcaravan planned and hope that we don't have to cancel them. Our thinking is along the same lines as HettyMaud - no need to come into close contact with anyone except in the loos and showers and we have those facilties in the 'van (even though they're very cramped!).

Yes it's a bit early yet. Although the ones near me do have a wood burner in them, and a fire pit outside. Proper beds, furniture etc. Not old style camping at all. Very popular with families.

It would certainly keep you away from other people, but at this time of year, hypothermia, insect bites and wet clothes would be a lot more miserable than cosy self-isolation at home.

The farm up the road to me do glamping holidays, just 2 very luxurious safari tents in a huge field. Each have their own toilet and shower tent. I reckon they will be fully booked this year.

Please don't all start panic camping. It will lead to pitch shortages, price rises and long queues at the showers.
