Covid travel test costs

I know there is a holiday booking boom right now, but I wonder how many people are factoring in the addition costs for covid testing?

To fly to and from the UK now costs,
Pre flight out covid test, £120.00
Pre flight home covid test - however much the holiday country charges
Covid tests upon arrival in the UK on days 2 & 8, £210

So approximately £450 per person, in addition to all other holiday costs.

I am not complaining about it. It's the only way to stop it. BUT the costs are prohibitive. For a couple, almost an additional £1000.

OR are people assuming the testing requirement will be gone, come the summer?

I think the days of cheap travel are over.

I think you’re right. People haven’t factored it in.

The number of variants and their effects means that testing will have to carry on?

Totally have factored in extra costs, things are constantly changing though.

My grandchildren are worth it.

Most people missed a holiday last year - so should be able to afford it!

What happens if you test positive before you fly out? Will your travel insurance reimburse you ?
Worse case, is that you test positive before you leave for your return flight, presumably you will be put into a quarantine hotel and have to pay for that too and then pay for another flight to get you home.
Good luck with claiming for any of that on the Insurance.

I would have thought most travel insurance excluded Covid cover, other than for healthcare.
