We did this in Spain a couple of years ago and the owner was fine about it, but we told her upfront.
Maybe they need to know the names for Insurance purposes and Covid.?

Thank you, that helps.
I will speak to the landlord, as they asked for ALL names, but I wanted to know if it was reasonable to ask.
And halfpint1, to be clear - I am not 'letting out' the letting - they would be our guests, joining us for a family celebration in place of those who have to leave after the weekend.

i am a 'letter' and have no problem with this
you are right to say you will
i stay within the sleeping number
ii not require any extra bedding when the people swap over

i am only interested in the name of the 'lead' person in case there are problems
i don't do a search as such but am a bit nosey and look them up

we have just returned from renting an 8 bed house in Cornwall
day 1 and all week the two of us plus dog
day 2/3/4 4 more adults and 2 kids arrived with dog
day 5/6/7 the above left and 2 more adults arrived plus a different dog

we didn't tell the company
i think we asked a few years back and they didn't need to know

Speak to the landlord for guidance!
I’d give all intended names if asked for.
Job done.
Have a good time. If it’s to Cornwall, take extra care, Covid is currently rife down there & friends in their 50’s caught it & have berm been quite unwell.

As long as they are family members and you explain to the owner there shouldn’t be a problem nor should an extra set of sheets, the extra laundry cost is tiny in comparison to a weeks let on a house.

I honestly don’t see why not, but being me, I wouldn’t complicate the issue by giving the new-arrival names, as well as the previous ones. I doubt they’re actually going to come and ask for proof of ID - not unless they live next door and are particularly eagle-eyed - personally I wouldn’t want owners on the spot anyway.

A few years ago we rented a big place for 12 over Christmas - I don’t recall them asking for all names, just lead names and ages IIRC. Could be wrong, though.

I’ve done that several times, booking a two bed let for a week to see elderly relatives. None of my children could take a whole week off so they would come for a couple of days, see grandparents and then be replaced by the next, if you see what I mean.

I always explained beforehand and none of the owners has ever minded, as long as I was there for the whole week and I was obviously not sub letting to anyone.

Ask the letters if they would be happy with this.

You have to let the owners know all the people’s names and dates for insurance purposes.

It doesn't sound right somehow, it's as if you are letting out the letting.

Hello, this is a bit separate from a previous discussion about taking extra people to a holiday let, as I realised that some of you are 'letters' and would have a perspective.
We are going to rent a large house for our family and I have given the names to the landlord. Some are going to have to leave after a few days and I would like to invite another couple of family members to take their place.
We won't be going 'over numbers', I would change the bedding myself, and am happy to give the landlord their names. Do you think it is OK?
And a PS: they have asked for the names of people who are staying - do those of you who 'let' actually do some sort of search on people?
