I carry my drugs with me but can show the prescriptions on my NHS app if required. As yet, I haven't been asked and I've flown into European airports several times recently.

If any of it is controlled medication you should have a prescription or letter. Whether he can take a rucksack depends on the airline, some will charge extra.

Arrived home only last night from Europe, meds in my carry- on bag. Just put them through the security as normal.

I don't understand this either... just put the meds in the hand luggage. I've travelled lots of places and never heard of this.

We've just flown to and within Europe with shedloads of meds. No problem at all.

I travel with my asthma meds, painkillers, steroids and antibiotics in hand luggage, in original boxes along with a current prescription.

The only time I have needed a doctors letter was flying in and out of Kenya.

Perhaps it’s due to the medication your husband has?

My husband is travelling soon within Europe and has quite a few medicines. He checked with the airline as he wanted to carry the meds in a rucksack. He has a cabin sized bag to go under the seat but wants his meds with him. It is about a 4 hour flight.
The airline are saying he needs a signed letter from the GP and can carry a handbag sort of thing.
He would not have known this if he hadn’t checked.
The problem is whether he can take his rucksack.
He has not travelled outside UK for over 6 years so maybe things have changed?,
