If anyone has been to the Canary Island of Fuertventura as well as other Canary Islands
If so what was your opinion of the island compared to the other islands?
I ask as I have heard bad remarks about the island

I would like to know as well. I have been to Lanzarote and Tenerife. I like Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca in Lanzarote and Playa Del Duque in Tenerife.

We loved Fuerteventura, much preferred it to Lanzarote. We stayed in Calete de Fuste - beautiful beach and just a short hop from the airport too.

We love Fuerteventura, it has fantastic sandy beaches. We stayed in Jandia. There is also the lovely Oasis Park which has zoo animals and birds of prey amongst other attractions. There are markets and the locals sell aloe vera and honey. We've been 4 times.

I love Fuerteventura. We go to the south, Jandia/Morre Jable. The beach is out of this world and stretches for miles. Parque Natural Jandia is fabulous and not remotely touristy.

Also a relatively unknown spot is Villa Winter. It's a bit of a mystery with many conspiracy theories. Mainly about the possibility of it being a Nazi base during WWII.

You can visit but it's not an easy journey. Middle of nowhere.

But I love it there

Weather is similar to the other islands, the name Fuerteventura, means strong winds, which do occur but not in any way that it would spoil your trip.

Depends what you want for your holiday. A hire car can get you round to see the rustic villages and mountains.

Oh and I lived in Tenerife for 7 years and Gran Canaria. Love them all but Fuerteventura is my favourite 😍

A bit boring but ok

I’ve been to most of the Canary Islands. We went to Fuerteventura in March, and it was very windy, you had to sit against the building to escape it. The island was nice, but not one of my favourites, I thought it was a bit boring as there weren’t many places to visit, although the beaches were lovely. I like Gran Canaria best, for Puerto Mogan and Maspalonas, and with more to do. Wherever you go in the Canaries, choose your resort with care though because some have lots of rowdy bars etc. where unfortunately the Brits regularly let us all down.

PS if you want a quiet island, I’d go for La Gonera, which is small but very pretty.

It seemed lacking in charm, character and it was boring to us.I can't remember which resort we stayed at now.An example of what I'm talking about is that we were there for New Year's eve. We were delighted to find a village square which seemed to be set up for a celebration which never happened. There were a few people there but no warm greetings from anyone. I think they thought we were mad wishing strangers,"happy New Year"I have been to Tenerife,Majorca at the same time of year and enjoyed the holidays there. It may have improved now but I definitely don't wish to revisit to find out.The apartment we had was very damp too

Thank you avitor1

I’ve never been but it’s somewhere I’ve thought about. My Ds went briefly last year on a day trip from another of the Canary Islands and liked it.
