There is also a big car park at the top of the cliffs at the North end above Noble Landing if you dont want to walks too far. but key is low tide for the Brigg.

Take a walk all the way down the beach and promenade at Filey. Start at the south end where there is a big car park above the cliffs. Make sure the tide is out. At the North end of the prom is the headland Filey Bragg a fantastic walk at low tide right out into the sea. On returning from the Brigg stop at Coble Landing, where you get the best Fish and Chips ever.

We went there every year as children and it hasn't changed much!

Thanks for your suggestions everyone. I forgot to mention that we have two dogs with us so I think some of those places are probably not feasible for us. However, I’ll look them up.

Today we went on a walk around The Mere which is only a half mile out of Hornsea centre. Not a huge place but lots of ducks around.
We also went to a ‘country park’ which is situated on a lodge site called High Farm. There were a couple of lakes and nice walks around them some very posh lodges on the site next door! 😊

The wolds are never that busy .....lovely hills with lots of market towns and villages

Has anyone got any ideas for travelling abroad for single 70 year old.
I would love to go to Europe or maybe a cruise but don’t know where to start. I feel nervous about making a decision. Has anyone done this and can give me some advice. Thanks

Flamborough and North landing are worth a visit. It goes without saying they also have fabulous fish and chips in this area.

Good suggestions Cabbie and there's also Burton Agnes Hall and some great garden centres with great shops and cafes.

Don’t miss the museum in Hornsea. Bigger than it looks and with varied exhibits. Not really touristy.
Burton Constable Hall is not far and has some attractive rural surroundings. Not overly busy.
The old railway track between Hornsea and Hull is now a walking trail.
I love Beverley which has two magnificent churches, a good market and decent shops, without all the bustle of York.

Drive into the Wolds for undulating hills.
Sledmere house s worth a visit.

Or venture into the Yorkshire dales for unparalleled beauty. You can find many areas where you won’t see a soul.
