Booking a parking space at local railway station

Today I thought I ought to book a parking space at the railway station I am leaving from tomorrow(Sunday) and back Mon evening. No spaces! What if I had driven over expecting to park? - Actually I was thinking that I would do that as in days of yore, but there is nowhere to park on site! Other sites are advertised nearby which appear to be on the drives of peoples' homes! I don't want to do that. I only knew I needed to travel a few days ago! I am sorted with son-in-law BUT I wanted to be independent! I know this is not the end of the world but heck hasn't it become complicated? Anyway a lesson learnt! Don't expect that I can access the services I used to use regularly.

Oh tell me about it.

I have been told a couple of times, to drive to the next station and try to outrun the train!
Err no. Not sure there would be spaces there. And could get caught in traffic.

Ours seems to be ok if want a space from 6am. Not so great at 12 noon.

And dont get me started on trying to pay for the space.
I did try once, and incurred a fine as it didnt take the money from my account and presumably did not go through properly.
I do have a bit more luck at the railway desk. Assuming it is manned, and the wind is in the right direction!

Some years ago I prepaid for my parking at our train station to save time the next morning.
I drove all round the car park and there wasn't one space free. I had to go to another car park nearby and pay again.
Nowadays I just go straight to the nearby car park and walk to the station.

I am surprised only two of us have replied.

I had assumed the "problem" was widespread.

I can’t see any of this. A large black block advert, which can’t be removed, is covering most of the text!

It’s news to me that you can book parking at a railway station, I had no idea! Is that everywhere or just certain places?

When I last used a train (3 years ago) there were plenty of parking spaces.
Wish I had a house near a R/S 😂

I don’t use trains fancythat, perhaps many still driving don’t either?

I don’t drive but…. Why not take a taxi to the station, that’s what we do. Or we take a bus to the station.

I'd never heard of this either.
Doubt its done round here.
The railway station car parks are not staffed. How would the space be reserved??
Anyway it sounds rather complicated go me.
I'd rather get a taxi or blag a lift.
