railway crossings

I'm in the North East and used to live near a crossing for the metro system... although not high speed trains, the number of times I saw driver's 'speed up' to beat the barriers, people dodge around them etc was unbelievable!
I'm amazed there wasn't serious incidents.

Used to chat to a train driver at my gym. Not only did he point out the effect suicides had on the train driver but also told me that people seem to have no idea how long it takes to actually stop a train.

I heard someone on the radio talking about how he had struggled to be the driver in a suicide case.

He suffered for years and his pain was so deep and so long lasting.
I suppose if you are thinking of suicide you are only thinking of yourself. He was lucky in that the family of the person who died also tried to support him and he was grateful for that.

I do hope he one day finds peace.

Absolutely. My friend's dad was also a train driver and had someone jump in front of his train - his dad was never the same again.
