What's the worst start to a holiday you have had?

Not the worst start - but we once returned from a holiday abroad, after a delayed flight, to Newcastle Airport - only to discover that our car had been stolen from the supposedly secure car park where we'd left it. Had to get my poor father-in-law to drive all the way down from Edinburgh to collect us! Car was later found by the police, several weeks later, burned out.

Only brave people go on holiday with me!

Arriving on a Scottish Island after a long wait (3 days) for the ferry due to awful weather and finding the only shop was closed for the weekend, the cottage cupboards were empty and we hadn't brought anything with us, relying on supporting the local shop.
The only restaurant was closed so I had to beg for a cup of rice and some oatmeal.

Then as soon as Monday arrived along with the sunshine, the man next door got started with his deafening rock breaking machine (he was building a house) to cap it all I fell over and broke my nose!
