Lanzarote Recommendations

Please can anyone recommend a Lanzarote resort that suits us?

We are looking for somewhere with an atmospheric port with quiet traditional bars and restaurants.
Somewhere with good transport links to nearby towns
With nice shops to browse, not full of souvenir type shops.

Hotel wise - we would like half board, seaview, no loud music, quiet entertainment at night, walking distance to the centre but not right in it. Maybe adult only but not crucial.

Just me and DH in January. We have never been to Lanzarote and don't know where to start.

Thanks

Playa Blanca is nice. Some nice shops, a marina, a weekly market, a good variety of hotels. Lots of nice strolls along the promenade, most of which is flat which might be importing to you. We’ve not used buses but plenty of taxis around. Can be very windy however so be prepared for that. We liked the H10 hotel on the front which is adults only, booked with TUI.

The hotel is the H10 Timanfaya Palace. We found it fine for a weeks winter sun.

We have stayed twice at the Iberostar Lanzarote plays in Playa blanca which ticks all your boxes. Pay extra for the adults only wing .

Suggest you try the Jet2 site as my OH found they have more detailed information than most.

Cath9 are you thinking of Órzola, near the island of La Graciosa to the north of Lanzarote?

We stayed at the H10 in playa Bianca too. It was large but close to the beach and the excellent market which was 3 x a week at the time. Although it was all inclusive we used to eat out sometimes and there was a lovely restaurant at the entrance to the market which faced the sea with floor to ceiling windows so a perfect place to view the sunset.

I've done a day trip there last year and year before. It's a very small quiet place and is where you get the ferry to the island of La Graciosa which tends to be why a lot of people make their way there. It only really has one main street with a couple of eating/drinking places, few shops, no large hotels there. It would probably suit people who want a quiet relaxing holiday, like walking/hiking. It is remote so a car is useful and the buses are infrequent. If you go by bus and intend to catch the ferry to La Graciosa I'd recommend you research the bus and ferry timings. We just missed the ferry the 1st time there which meant had we caught the next ferry that we'd have had a good few hours to kill for the next bus back to Arrecife bus terminus. I don't know if timings have changed any since we last went though. It was worth the ride out just to see another part of the island though and there are some nice beaches nearby which you pass on the bus journey which was very cheap for the distance travelled.

Most of the roundabouts on Lanzarote have great sculptures on them. Very interesting and often colourful.

Cesar Manrique was responsible for many of them and also for insisting that no high rise buildings were built. Oh, and you will notice that all traditional homes on the coast have blue shutters and inland have green. That’s down to him too. 👏👏

Clickertyclick do you know if there is a bus from the airport to Ozoto or however the place is spelled. Or how does oneget there?

ClicketyClick Thu 16-Oct-25 14:27:13

The only place to get the bus to Orzla is from the bus terminus in Arrecife. Be careful as there are 2 bus stations - one is nearly opposite the sea front. The one you want is in the town itself and called Andenes Estacion de Arreciefe. It a proper terminus with bays undercover where the buses load/unload. This bus station is where you can catch connections to most of the island. If you are planning on going to Orzola from the airport by bus then you'll need to still change bus at the bus terminus. From there it's about one hour journey but you see the island and have done great views. If you pm me, I can sort out info for you later

If that's possible?

Cath9

If you use the link below it shows bus no. 9 from the bus station (also called Estacion De Guaguas) and return journey times Where it says Reef that's short for Arrecife

arrecifebus.com/lineas/9-arrecife-orzola/

If you have to go to this station by bus for the connection, the station is just after a football pitch on your left hand if coming from the airport side of the island. If coming from the other end, the bus station is the 2nd stop after the big shopping centre on your left hand side. I hope this helps you.

As I’m off next week I have been looking up the bus routes from Orzola.
I will say, as someone has pointed out already, that Orzola is rather isolated so thank goodness I am only away for a week. I intend to take a trip to the markets after looking up the times and may do a day trip to the capital but have not looked up the times yet to see if that is possible

Cath9 Fri 14-Nov-25 12:02:58

Just another query;
Does anyone know if there is a bus from the capital to Playa Blanca

ClicketyClick Mon 17-Nov-25 00:10:06

It's no. 6 bus from Arrecife bus station. Sorry but I can't attach the link for the bus info but if you Google arrecifebus.com then click on Lines & Schedules it gives all bus info for getting around the island and will help you with your bus timing to Orzola which is definitely isolated. I hope you have a good holiday.

Oh I see I managed to attach the link in my earlier reply 🫣😅

Got back last night after visiting many areas of the lovely island which reminded me when visiting Spain in the 1960s although of course without the volcanic hills and volcanic ash but Spain then had similar small villages with similar houses and a mass of countryside.
