Hey folks, it's that time of the year to enjoy winter, snowboarding, skiing. Where do you think is the best place to go to?

I thought this thread was going to be about one of the dismal Christmas markets haha.

Personally, if I can leave my house to nip to the shops without slipping on icy pavements I am happy.

I would leave skiing and snowboarding to braver people than me!

Well, somewhere that has snow would be a good start!
I also thought this thread was about Christmas markets……..and let’s face it, once you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all.

Never having been snowboarding and skiing, I have no idea.

I have always wanted to, but skating at Streatham ice rink was as hnear as I got.

Call me cynical but I’m guessing most Gransnetters won’t be participating in skiing or snowboarding.

No never been never really thought about it to be honest

Skiing is not for me.
I don't mind ice skating (if I must).

Sadly PaulMicheal these would just be something for me to endure I think!
...and the idea of actually going somewhere with skiing as the purpose- just NO!

Winter wonderland can definitely be found in Switzerland, for example in the Bernese highlands, or Berner Oberland as they call it there. A dream of snow comes true.

I have only been skiing once but that was away back in 1962 when my parents took me to braunweld where I loved and where then there was no road to the village so our luggage was taken by a cart.
I
Being in March there were only 10 taking skiing lessons. Those were the days.
Braunweld should still be fine but I expect it now has roads

I enjoy skiing and ice skating, but I think British Columbia might be too far for you to come!

Maybe try the Mumsnet forum, or Fodor's travel forum; they often have great advice.

Plenty of snow in Scotland right now, and skiers of all ages.
