Alfriston in East Sussex is lovely. The nearest seaside is Seaford but Eastbourne and Hastings are just along the coast. All three are worth a visit but Hastings is the most interesting historically.

We went to Portmeirion which was really interesting. We also went to the Warners Hotel on the Isle of Wight.

It’s not actually in the area you mention but the Duchy Hotel in Falmouth is fabulous. Gorgeous food, attentive staff, nice grounds, pool and treatments , free parking and WiFi . Really recommend . Rooms from cosy to luxury( different costs) and you can add extras/special packages . They’ll go out of their way for you for a special occasion, just let them know.

Nice little harbour town near lots of nice places to visit

Flackley Ash Country House hotel near Rye. Very comfortable, lovely food and very individual and quirky.

My daughters had breakfast with their cousin at PennyHill Park yesterday morning to celebrate DD2’s birthday today. They said the food was wonderful and it is in beautiful surroundings.

Chewton Glen, Hampshire is good, 15 minutes walk to the beach through the woods

Pennyhill Park, just off of M25 Surrey is fabulous.

It will be our golden anniversary in the summer ( during school holidays) and we are looking for a quiet coastal destination/accommodation/hotel along the U.K. south coast or half an hours drive inland, to spend a few days. We would like a little luxury if possible but mostly somewhere not too busy. I’m not at all sure this is possible in August! Any personal recommendations or ideas would be very welcome.
