Boston and New York

Hi, I'm looking to do a trip to Boston and new York in September or October.
Has anyone got any useful tips please?
I'm aged 70, maybe travelling alone or with my g/daughter who is 21.

One of our daughters lived in Cambridge (Boston area) for school. Lovely city. I recommend October, the tree colours are spectacular.
