Holidays in Devon

Oh, I knew I could rely on you lovely people, thank you all so much.
I seem to remember visiting Clovelly as a child (so a dim and distant memory) .
I will make a note of all your recommendations and look for a conveniently situated cottage.
Sounds like I’d better practise some hill walking too, don’t want to miss anything because I run out of puff!

Linton and Lynmouth are lovely; Woolacombe and Croyde have lovely beaches as does Staunton Sands nearby. We stayed in cottages in Torrington, ideal for the RHS gardens and also Dartington Glass nearby.

Marwood Hill Gardens are well worth a visit and they have a lovely cafe. Lynton and Lynmouth linked by a funicular cliff railway are another must. Woody Bay has superb walks which are quite steep and a visit to Woody Bay Railway with a steam haul ride and then lunch in their cafe. Exmoor itself beckons with many lovely towns such as Dulverton.

Another vote for Marwell Hill Gardens and their cream teas!😋

Nearby Bucks Mills is lovely too , also steep walk to the beach .

I live in north Devon , I’m an incomer 😀 and Clovelly is well worth a visit if you can manage the steep walk down on a cobbles path! No cars allowed and they used to use donkeys to carry shopping etc now use sledges …..Usually run a Land Rover up though 👍🏻.
It’s a fishing village owned by one family and there’s a charge to visit to fund the upkeep! Gorgeous 🥰

Rosemoor is a must, I remember watching baby ducks following Mother Duck across the water then climbing out, one little one at the end was struggling and we were all holding our breath as it kept slipping back in. It made it in the end.

Watersmeet is lovely, Hartland Point, Woolacombe for a lovely beach.

Oh yes, thank you, that would be lovely. We have enjoyed RHS gardens previously and know Bridgewater and Harlow Carr well so I’ll add definitely add that to the list. Thanks f the recommendation.
