Did any of you watch the BBC2 programmes about the children with deformed skulls who were treated by the surgeons at Oxford Children's Hospital? Yes, they were harrowing, and yes I cried but what struck me most of all was that these wonderful surgeons, with unimaginable skill, were probably earning in a year what a professional footballer earns in a week. And heaven only knows what they earn compared to our friends the bankers. And the most galling thing is that things will never change. I know who I think is of most use to society.
