Definitely used to be Worcestershire. The Old Bull at Inkberrow was said to be the model for The Bull in Ambridge. Why were all the usually calm, competent women hysterical? Except Clarrie who is usually so indecisive. I hoped Rob was going to be drowned as well.

Rob rescuing Shula from the flood will mean she will be reluctant to say what he did to the anti hunt protester. AND if Freda Fry is 75 how on earth does she manage to be the sole cook in the kitchen at the Bull? I too am still having problems with all the new voices. Why can't they leave things alone. I remember Ambridge Hall getting flooded. I think the editors must be getting careless.

PS Although I do find it odd that he seems to say "Whirr" when he starts speaking

I'm sure Helen said something about Ambridge village never having been flooded before, but I'm also equally sure that Ambridge Hall (home to Lynda and Robert Snell) did suffer some flood damage previously.

Having been brought up in Worcestershire, I think Bert Fry's accent is pretty much like some of the older chaps that I remember, but he was one of the ones singled out to be given an accent based hammering in a recent Daily Telegraph column.

I thought that it was set in a mythical land somewhere on the Hereford / Gloucestershire/Worcestershire borders and that Underwoods was modelled on Cavendish House dept. store in Cheltenham.

Always thought Borchester was Evesham. Great lateral thinking by the programme makers though: if you can't move the Archers to a flood zone move the flood zone to the Archers.

I have been hoping all week that the cast would suffer the fate of The Bowmen in the Tony Hancock satire: all wiped out. What else is the point of the flood?

allegedly the Archers was originally set in Worcestershire (Borchester is 'Worcester')
and recorded at Pebble Mill in Birmingham (remember that)
and there were Worcestershire/Herefordshire accents galore but it seems to have gone the way of TV 'soaps' and 'needs' high drama rather than easy rural story lines with information imbedded therein (original Archers with Dan and Doris was intended for farming info (an everyday story of country folk ).

I was so confused when they were trying to get Christine into the boat I thought Rob had gone overboard. Drat! Now he'll be a bloody hero and Helen will never shut up about it.

Brilliant! Thank you for that, I always knew The Archers was real . Is it too much to hope that we have seen the last of the obnoxious heroic Rob Titchener? And who would have thought Christine was 83? I can't wait for tomorrow!!

Rolling news coverage from Ambridge!

No rain to speak of on the Herefordshire MetCheck site!! But do look at The Archers website! There's a full "Weather Forecast" by a BBC presenter and a "Flood Timeline"! Seems a lot of GNetters live in Herefordshire! I thought Ambridge was Worcestershire!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't really follow what was happening. I was just working out which voice was yelling when it cut to another scene.

What a load of hammy acting! Total chaos! I have no idea who was saying what or why!

Please! The writers don't seem to think their listeners are very decerning.
