I am not excusing either of them as the blame lies equally with both of them I just think Elizabeth should be slapped hard not for sleeping with Roy just because I find her smug and rather irritating.

With any luck Elizabeth's heart condition (remember that?) will resurface and put an end to this marital mess.

Why chloe1984, it's her husband who made vows to her? I do appreciate that it is easier to blame the other women as you may then be able to keep your marriage together but she will have to deal with the fact that she was in a relationship with her husband not Elizabeth.

I think Carol Tregorran will move into Jill's cottage sparkygran but perhaps that's a bit obvious.

I have had the same thought Gracesgran it would leave 2 homes vacant and perhaps a fairy godmother could wave a wand and Ed and the truly awful Emma could buy one and get out from under Susan`s feet. Also what about Jill`s empty cottage on the Green??

I am just wondering if the rather unlikely affair between Elizabeth and Roy is a device to give Roy and Haley a reason to go to Birmingham with Mike and Vicky and move another family in.

My mother was wined and dined by Charles Simon who played Dr Jim Dale. he set up a theatre company in Darlington where she lived. i ended up at boardig school in Darlington and shared a bedroom with his daughter Judy. Did not know then about our tenuous link!

I used to watch on the TV when my DS was small either Mary Tyler Moore or someone like her in a series about a single woman in her 20s and she may have lived with her dead sister's husband (platonically) and his child.

Am I imagining the programme? I think it's title was her name.

I too lived Waggoners Walk as a young Mum it was the highlight of my day.

I remember Mrs Dale`s Diary well and long after it finished there was another series called Waggoners Walk - lovely Terry Wogan just loved WW - to say it was the highlight of my day as a young mum would be going too far

Mrs Dale's Diary had to be listened to - not because it was of any interest, but because my Auntie Mollie had an ongoing part in it which lasted for about four years. She played the part of a hairdresser who, shock horror, became pregnant even though she wasn't married. She used to say that when her vouce was recognised in shops or elsewhere, she was subjected to reprimands, tut tutting and often support! It was terminally boring but it gave her a reasonable income for a bit.

As a student, when I came back from afternoon lectures, I used to listen to Mrs Dale's Diary, later known as The Dales. Rarely missed it but can't remember much about it now.

If Mrs Dale's Diary was on when I came in from school, I wasn't allowed to speak until it finished. Imagine Jim calling his mil "belle mere" - my sil would crack up laughing. I also remember Journey into Space and being upset when one of the spaceships was lost.

Yes, suemac, I loved Dick Barton. And such exciting music! And Journey into Space, NanKate. Anyone remember Mrs Dale's Diary? She was always worried about Jim, (her husband Dr Dale) but I was too little to follow the plots.

I know of it Sue and I think the late David Jacobs played a part in it, or was that 'Journey into Space'?

Anyone remember Dick Barton Special Agent?? Used to fill the time slot between 6.45 and 7.00pm which was bedtime for me and I think ended when the Archers started.

Me too. The Archers has always been there. I wonder if, in sixty years time, the same will be said of Eastenders?

We once went to see the actor who plays Brian Aldridge and his wife who plays Shula. It was a fascinating evening full of life behind the making of the goings on in Ambridge.

I realise I have been listening on and off since I was 7 that's 60 years ago !
