Yeh well I was saying " How the xxxx did they get that shot" when we watched it. They could have easily mentioned it in the "aren't we brave and clever" section at the end of the prog.

When DD was tiny and I got "scared" watching TV she would reassure me with "It's only acting, Mummy" - I should have guessed that the polar bears were only acting too. Seriously I loved it whatever, even if the penguin shots came from "Happy Feet"(?)

What a gift the BBC has given to the red-tops who love to do-down Aunty and the licence fee. That series alone was worth the licence fee and if only they had admitted there and then that the footage was filmed in a zoo they wouldn't have this opportunity to stick the boot in. Sir David Attenborough is a national treasure and should not be dragged off his pedestal in this gleeful manner.

I think its a shame that it wasn't explained as now, especially those global warming doubters in the USA are going to poo poo the whole series as being a sham . I guess if one was to really think about it there are going to be things they absolutely can't film naturally just for people and the animals safety..
Still a cracking series and very informative , I don't see how anyone can doubt some of that ice footage as being highly significant but I guess there will always be those that do.

It's just being explained on The Wright Stuff. David Attenborough says it would be dangerous to film sequences like polar bears and new cubs snuggled up, as the mother could either kill the cub or the cameraman. Pity they didn't explain that and avoid the furore.
