We loved all the references to old movies and thoroughly enjoyed it. It got a round of applause at the matinee when we saw it. The next week we went to see Coriolanus with Ralph Fiennes and I can't believe that didn't even get nominated. wow!

Brilliant film. Innovative too. Left me thinking........ there were lots of 'set pieces' slipped in that informed of the Silent Screen era, and some parodies.
Great dog.

My exact sentiments Mrs JamJam , as I started watching I wondered how it had won all those BAFTAS, but kept watching and found it delightful, moving and very clever, yes , liked the dog too!

The dog was definitely the star! At the beginning of the film I wasn't sure I would enjoy it, but by the end came out of the cinema feeling happy, so it must be good smile

Has anyone else seen this film. I went yesterday evening with a friend and although we both enjoyed it enormously we felt there was a bit too much middle but we were more than satisfied with the beginning and the end. It starts in 1927 and ends in I think 1933 so the dresses were simply lovely. My friend thought the dog was the star. Definitely worth seeing.
