Silent Witness

I've rather enjoyed this series. Wasn't sure about the new man, but he's grown on me and I really like the lady in the wheelchair. It was a shock to see Leo killed after all the "is Harry dead or not" in the last series. I know it's completely unreal but most TV dramas are.

I have always 'enjoyed' Silent Witness but find it increasingly gory and this series has been very political. The new man has added a different slant which helps.

I do wonder how many pathologists get as personally involved as they all do.

I have Edward Fox's autograph on a paper bag from the pharmacy [in Cornwall] where I worked, before coming to Scotland. He is a charming man. Miss Fox [an aunt, I believe] now deceased, was a very pleasant lady. We "got along" well, and she frequented the Lace shop where I also worked at one time. Gloria Hunniford and her lovely daughter [who died from cancer] were customers of The Romantic Englishwoman, a gift shop which I managed in Fowey. Bragtime over!

j08 thanks for that I had read that report but just wondering if things had changed,she seems so demur and ladylike and he seems brash and mouthy but they do say opposites attract.

I watched father and son acting in Lewis last week every time I see the father it takes me back to the wonderful performance he gave in The Day of the Jackel.Is Emilia Fox still dating Marco Pierre White or did that pitter out.? (just being nosey)

HATE Amanda Burton! Cannot stand the woman! Emillia Fox is much better. She's very pretty too. Aging a bit now. (Ha!) But she will probably do it well, like her brothers.

I agree. Remember Amanda Burton and her faraway gazes over the body she was examining - and the wonderful mickey-taking spoof by French and Saunders, 'Witless Silence'? It's changed beyond all recognition!

I agree totally with anno about the demise of this series. It used to just be about forensic pathology and detection. The story lines of the last few series have become increasingly implausible as well as showing unjustifiably violent flashbacks. I feel they should just end it for ever.

Missed this week's as sky plus wasn't working. Can anyone tell me what happened to Leo's girl friend? (From previous series)

I DID give you a spoiler alert, grumppa. You didn't have to read my post. And I agree with the point about the lighting. At one time, early in the series, I had thought there was a problem with my TV set.

Annodomini thanks for revealing the outcome.. I shall watch it on iplayer just for the pleasure of seeing the insufferable Leo being blown to bits.

And I agree with you about the lighting Greatnan. Too many shots against the natural light with the action in semi-darkness unrelieved by proper lighting: a problem throughout the series before they got to "Afghanistan".

Is the BBC trying to save on electricity?

Didn't like the end of this series at all won't spoil for those who haven't yet watched.

Next series won't be the same.

I should know by now how the beeb makes use of old quarries etc. They did it often in a show that will not be mentioned.

Oh well. That's my illusions shattered. (I really thought they had trekked off to foreign parts! )

Near our old home in Norfolk there was an area of worked-out gravel pits where the BBC used to film desert scenes or extra terrestrial episodes of Dr Who, though it's now many years since we lived there. It would probably have made a good substitute for Afghanistan's less fertile areas.

I don't go into it that seriously I'm afraid. I just enjoy it as entertainment.

I wonder where they filmed this last one.

I have followed the privatisation of the forensic service in Private Eye - another sad tale of private profit and inefficiency.

I think the point of the pathologists 'going private' is that the forensic pathology services were put out to tender and this is a kind of muddled authenticity.
