I too love Fake or Fortune, and would love to know what happened to the paintings found on the rubbish dump. I couldn't understand how someone could claim ownership of something found that way.
Amazed at the patience and skill of the people who stripped the paint away from Philip Moulds painting, quite apart from the courage!

According to one internet source, the ownership dispute over the Winslow Homer picture [Children under the Palms] is still 'deadlocked'. It could go on for a long time unless the parties decide to sell and split the proceeds in some way.

I think Fiona Bruce is very good, both on Fake or Fortune and Antiques Roadshow. I like her. There's more to her than reading the news autocue.

From a similar line of programmes, very sad to see David Barby died of a stroke, aged 69. He was an expert on Bargain Hunt etc.

He was on yesterday's Antiques Road Trip, wasn't he?

gracesmum - yes, I think the programme was made in July. He was said to have died 'after a short illness' which I think was the 10 days after his stroke.

Agree about David Barby, he was a lovely man, always had a ready laugh, and a twinkle in his eye.

I was shocked to hear about David Barby!. He was a lovely, friendly character and I will miss him very much. How tragic I feel quite shocked to hear this.

Did you see the lovely tribute to David Barby today at the end of the programme. Friday October 5th.?

I just caught the end of it. My wife said it was very moving - he was a man of great fun who looked in good health for his age. He will be missed, no doubt.
