Hej, hej!

...the only thing I did think about last night was the fact that, even the first series of the Killing led one up a lot of garden paths, and I think the series is meant to give the viewer several clues they are meant to pick up on each week[I'm a bit too dim to do that myself]. Bit like a televised murder mystery weekend/week or, in this case season. Wonder if the Guardian blog is up and running yet; it'll be interesting to read what they say.

Dark buildings and torches; remember the X Files! On the subject of creepy things, is anyone watching that new series tonight set in an old house? I'm on my own at the moment [even the dog has gone away] so I'm a bit concerned about watching it. I can scare myself if I'm not careful.

Yes - more than one instance of out of character behaviour. I will not say what in case peeps are watching the repeat.

We always chuckle that they all seem to be swanning about with torches all the time (very effective from a cinematography point of view) when they just need to switch the light on. We sit there yelling "Switch the blooming light on!" I hope you will all be spotting instances of this in the next episodes!

I have to admit to being quite disappointed by it, probably because I feel I've got to know the character so well by now that it seemed wrong that the series started with her behaving out of character [I won't say how for fear of spoiling it for anyone that hasn't seen it yet]. I was very tired, though, and struggled to keep awake for the last half hour.

Much wiser? Me neither!

..."Cattarella!!!"........I loved Montalbano, even though I could hardly ever follow the story. I've never watched The Killing before but did watch the others - (The Bridge and Wallander), so I think I may well be smitten by watching The Killing tonight, .

I see M&S have got a couple of 'Sarah Lund' jumpers in store now.......trouble is they dont flatter me....you have to be a bit flat chested!

DH can't cope with subtitles so I'll be watching on iplayer as soon as I can. Sooooo looking forward to it.

Mishap; I was reading about Falcon today, but haven't got Sky. Sounds like I've had a narrow escape. My one reservation about The Killing tonight is that I didn't find the second series as good as the first and I found 'The Bridge' even better than The Killing. Having said that, wild horses wouldn't drag me away from the telly at 9 tonight [although I do wish it didn't clash with the first of the two parter about the Rolling Stones on 2]. And I've booked tickets for a concert next Saturday; it was a tough decision but it's Bellowhead's only concert in this area till next year and they usualy repeat The Killing during the week.

Yes - sad goodbye to Salvo - I really loved the series, even though an element of realism was completely lacking! I liked the humour and the characters. It always made me smile that everyone knew where he lived and he left his balcony doors open all the time - anyone could have popped in and bumped him off! And there were occasional continuity errors that made me smile.

And now - The Killing is back - equally good but in a diffferent way.

We dipped in to Falcon, which is Sky's purchase in the Euro-cop-drama field - it is based in Spain. It was perfectly dreadful - real ham acting. RT said the main character was like "an undertaker with piles" - I could see what they maent.

Ooohh! We're very excited here. We'll light the fire and a few candles, turn off the phone and, if necessary, ignore the doorbell. I've heard that this is definitely the last of the series, which I think is probably a good idea. I can't see how the quality can continue to be maintained ad infinitum.
I get the bonus edition - the WM can understand a lot of the dialogue and fills me on some of the more nuanced exchanges.
Next Saturday we're hosting a Scandinavian evening; gravlax, venison and waffles are on the menu and the WM is going to talk us through his travels in Norway - then we'll shoo our guests away and settle down with the lovely Sarah Lund. (iPlayer is a wonderful invention.)

Actually I thought the last few Montalbano episodes were quite bonkers, the plots didn't hang together, we never knew why anyone did what they did and you got the impression they were making it up as they went along...
