I did see bits of the BAFTAs and did see who came on and say Good evening ladies and gentleman and stephen, but can't remember who it was - even the reference to Billy doesn't trigger anything - please tell me who it was
I once saw a photo of Helen Mirren on her knees hemming up her sister's dress before an awards ceremony. She always seems so normal - as if she has a real life.
Though DD Lewis was brilliant with his self parody [if that's the right term?] so I'll forgive him for being in what I thought was a very boring film. Don't understand why Argo won so many awards; pleasant but immediately forgettable film imo. Yes' Billy was brilliant.
Too witty for the americans by far maybe? He talks fast and it is a very English brand of humour. Billy can still hook a crowd cant he. He comes on and just says something like "Good evening ladies and gentlemen. And steven." and gets a big laugh. never did anyone have the ability to put so many nuances in a few words - its all in the non verbals. Quite the opposite to mr erudite fry who is all about the words.
