The Young Montalbano

Not a bad start and our hero is reasonably convincing. We may even see him swimming sometime soon - once he discards that sheepskin coat. A welcome alternative to the hyped jingoism of the Last Night of the Proms!

Yes!! What a nice young man and completely credible - even with all that hair. I really liked it- even down to a younger Catarella. That's my Saturday evenings sorted for the next 6 weeks!

I thought the legs were reasonably bandy and he'd got quite a lot of the mannerisms. Caterella was completely wrong and doesn't appear till the second book so didn't even need to be in it.

And the scenery is wonderful of course.

Couldn't get into it, I'm afraid. I kept trying to look at his legs...

Just finished watching it - both DH and I enjoyed it.

Well I am on holiday in French / Catalan telly land and the Radio Times didn't come before we left so I haven't set it up to record. But what I want to know is, is he bandy-legged too? I am relying on you GK.....

Oh - so it's not him?? DH just told me that Montalbano was on tonight and I thought it was HIM - and it's not...... I'll watch it though - I'll just have to put up with it. It'll whet my appetite for the real man !

Yes, I know how you feel, I'm not too hopeful about the 'young' aspect, but at least there'll be the scenery...

I am reserving judgement, ana as much as I enjoyed "Endeavour" in its own right, for instance, he wasn't Morse (to me) . For me, the charm of Montalbano is that he is of a certain age, lacking the Italian "bella figura" and not a dashing young Latin lover .We can laugh with him and at, eg. Mimi's peccadilloes, but I wonder how I will feel if "young Montalbano" is too young and too gorgeous. Worth a look anyway!
