Homeland.

I have started watching Breaking Bad on my ipad through Netflix. Wow! Brilliant acting, characters grabbed me in the first few minutes, but oh dear the gore!

I'm a vegetarian and couldn't watch the acid bath scene, or rather the mopping up afterwards.

I'm going to persevere in the hope that kind of thing dies down a bit.

Apropos Homeland, my SIL plays football with Damian Lewis.

I was lucky enough to get series 1&2 of Homeland as birthday gifts, and I am not disappointed. I think it's a cracking story, well acted and written.
Watching series 3 now and enjoying it.

BAnanas you see, I understand your son better than his mother I hate that feeling when something ends and you do feel you have lost something important. I feel that with books too. My son has given me DVDs with a 'you'll love this Mum' attached and I rarely have - I've given him Breaking Bad so we'll see how it goes.

I had hopes for the new medical thing 'Breathless' I think it was last week - a bit Mad Men with stethoscopes but I thought it was awful. Maybe it will improve.

Never watched it - adapted from an Israeli series I believe. From what I read this morning, the third series is reckoned to be very weak compared with the first two series, and viewing figures have dropped substantially.

I've also been able to avoid [i]Downton Abbey[/i] - all this dodging reminds me of the days when I was able to avoid [i]Dallas[/i]...

sunseeker, you aren't I don't like it, my husband loves it. I became quite disinterested early on in the first series and I also find the Clare Danes character annoying.

I think Damian Lewis is a brilliant actor but after watching the whole of the first series found I was totally uninterested in what happened next.

This is the better version; what's sad is that Townes died after a life taken over by addiction.

Sel, my younger son and his friends had a sort of farewell party where they gathered together for the final episode of "Breaking Bad" and he came back home the next day saying he felt he "had lost something important from his life" it was that bad! I did tell him that it had won the Emmys instead of Downton, but he was particularly scornful that they could be considered on a par with each other in the first place! He bought us the first series last Christmas when nobody had heard of it, Breaking Bad that is, not Downton, but I'm afraid to say I didn't get into it and have only watched a couple of episodes so far, but maybe will try a bit harder.

I'm a great fan of Mad Men but I hear that the next series has gone off a bit, but there's only one more after that and then that is all over too. Farewell "Mad Men" party anybody???

They used a cover version of Townes song; the original is much better. I guess Breaking Bad is an American term? The series certainly makes you question who the good guys actually are and what makes somebody bad [if, in fact they are bad]. Think I've just got time to watch the last episode before I go out.

Tegan Breaking Bad is quite remarkable, you're rooting for the drug dealers It has so much - at times humorous, at times truly shocking, the family interest and the acting is first rate. Love it. I'm intrigued to know how it finishes (only on second series) because of the moral dichotomy. It's good too to see the positive and sensitive portrayal of the disabled son. Oh and I love the music.

I didn't realise there were 5 series . This will take me forever. There's so much depth to it; I think I started to really like it when I started to see Jesse's character developing.

I will have a look at netflix. It sounds good value. I have never subscribed to that sort of service before. Amazing what you find out on GN!

I joined netflix for a month (£5.99) to watch breaking bad. All 5 series is on there. You can cancel membership at any time with absolutely no hassle. You can download the app on to an iPad and watch it on it. Cheaper than a visit to the cinema.

Absolutely wonderful. Stayed up till 2am on two different days to watch it!!! Acting and writing is brilliant! Hard to watch anything else now.

I've just bought the first series of Breaking Bad because of all the reviews about it. When I find the time I will start waching it.

I may have to invest in various DVDs after seeing the reviews. I also missed the first series of The Killing so that is on my list. Problem is my PC gave up the ghost and I only have an iPad so I will need more hardware first.

I think Breaking Bad is probably one of the weirdest things I've ever watched [and I've seen some weird ones in my time!]. The Townes van Zandt song is a cover version [it's in the second series]. The original is much better.

I really enjoy Homeland but I am so far a little disappointed with this series, perhaps because the others were so good. Will be watching avidly though.

I think my all time favourite has to be Greys Anatomy and it's still going, hoora.

Now I've retired I'm catching up on lots of things I've missed. Homeland is one that's on the list but am currently watching Breaking Bad and I've just bought The Returned. Sel; what do you think of Breaking Bad? At first I thought I couldn't watch it [worked for the NHS for a long time and wanted a break from illness] but I'm addicted. Just about to watch the last episode of the first series but think I might go straight out and get the second series [so worried about finding out what happens at the end before I've watched it]. My daughter tells me that The Wire is one of the best things she's ever seen on tv so I need to watch that as well. The music in Breaking Bad is pretty amazing; I think Townes van Zandt is featured, and I've only just discovered him.

It's great. I've watched from the start and am hooked. I enjoy Downton too but the two are apples and pears. I think Homeland far surpasses Downton in terms of the acting but Downton is so typically Sunday evening TV and lovely to look at. I always record Homeland & watch later, minus ads.

I find most TV pretty dire now in terms of drama but am currently working my way through box sets of Breaking Bad and House of Cards, US version. Both wonderful.

I enjoy Homeland and have watched other series also,I watch Downton and then do +1 for Homeland so can sit and enjoy the two,if I leave for iplayer I do tend to forget to watch and by the time I remember they have gone off
