So the BBC can put on a real play with diologue, I thought they had forgotten how. I thought they had forgotten that there are plenty of people who can follow the spoken word. I found it very good indeed and so tragic that they didn't just keep on talking.
The Kaiser was shown to be the spoilt child he always was but at least he was disposed in 1918. The acting was excellent.

I think it was done intelligently, but also done in a way that most people could easily understand, by comparing and contrasting each different nation and leader/feelings. Had it all been presented from the British viewpoint it would not have been nearly so good. I often find my mind wandering when watching tv, but know the programme is good when I remain riveted to the set! So, this, Broadchurch, The Bridge and Game of Thrones all did just that.It's when good scripts, intelligent plotting and great acting come together.

It seems pretty accurate, the parallels with the current Ukraine/Crimea crisis are quite scary! Some of the explanatory stuff/ background is clunky but as an ex - history teacher it is hard to see how they could have packaged the information any other way. It is going to be a long year for history buffs!

Mr M is enthusiastic about it but it's going right over my head - I don't understand all this posturing and diplomacy and military strategy. Maybe it's a man-thing...

nannyfran I don't know about that nice Mr Cameron, but how about that nice Mr Putin?!!! Sometimes you think that wars can never really end, just stop for a while and then re-start.

We watched it too. Completely fascinating/frightening! The way it all panned out, starting with a Balkan assassination, and sliding down a slippery slope of defence agreements to engulf the whole world (well as good as). Ukraine?!!!

mr.glamma was watching and said it was very very good the acting was superb according to him,I am going to watch it later in the week when I can watch all episodes at once.

I agree, it was brilliant, but I feel I need to watch it again some time, it was so complicated.
I thought it was frightening the way the country was led by such huge egos!Do you think it's the same now?Surely not with that nice Mr Cameron!!
