The Big Allotment Challenge

At one point it seemed to have turned into yet another cookery programme! [connfused]

I'm getting bored with it now. It lacks the presenting skills of Mel and Sue. Fearn Britten is too mumsy and simpery. There's not much chemistry between the judges. That Thane woman is too scary and however you look at it, there's nothing exciting about Piccalilli.

I still can't work out how the allotments are managed when the contestants are not there. They don't all live down the road from Mapledurham do they? Most working people find it quite a challenge to fit in allotment time when everything needs attention at once.

I'll stick with it though because I love gardening programmes.

Just about scrapes in to my window of acceptability, but only just. They try and cram too much in.

I really enjoyed the programme, despite the media critics panning. It is interesting to see the individual couples approaches, both to growing and the challenges. I like the tips on planting so I can knowledgeably advise DH! X

Perhaps GNHQ could get one of the judges on here so we can ask?

We did have Mary Berry after all.

I am enjoying it too. I found the time shifts a bit discombobulating at first. Off to find your radishes - oh you're still planting them etc. I like the judges and it seems like a positive atmosphere amongst the contestants. Do you think it is July or August? I am slightly surprised by the fact that everything is out at once. It feels like we need a programme about how they made the programme.

I'm enjoying it, too. Apparently, those voted off have returned week later to find their plots well tended. That's good!
