Best of Motown

I was never a fan of the adult Michael Jackson, but watching him as a boy, you could see how brilliantly talented he was.

Watched this last night as I was too tired to cope with the Maggie Gyllenhaal thing!

The winner was not really a surprise was it - brilliant song by a fabulous singer.

I was hugely disappointed though that we only got snippets if all those fabulous songs

Yes, it's good to hear children singing the 'Happy' song after Gangnam Style and Blurred Lines. Last year my grandsons, then 4, were belting out 'ohhhh ohhhh your steps are on fiyerrrrr!' by Kings of Leon. All learned in the playground.

What a shame When that you missed Earl. I would say he is about 45 to 50 must work out daily as he looks super fit. He could easily have been a dancer. He has written songs for Etta James and Tom Jones. Why he isn't more well known in the UK I don't know.

Isn't it great we are still loving this music 50/60 years later.

When my eldest grandson 3+ was at a music and movement class recently the teacher asked for the children to suggest a song to dance to he piped up Farrell Williams 'Happy' - that's my boy !

I didn't manage to watch it and managed to forget it was on. I have dozens of Motown CDs which I listen to often.

Marvin Gaye - fabulous voice, he's one of my favourites.

When I was 15, I was dating a local DJ and had just finished with him. When my friend and I walked into the disco, he played 'Same Old Song' - I did feel a bit guilty but danced to it anyway

Ooh, NanKate I know about Earl Thomas! He was due to appear in San Diego and advertised as 'the black Mick Jagger' when I was there, but we were leaving before he arrived. Would love to see him.

The moment you said 'Junior Walker' When a song started playing in my head. Fabulous music.

If you ever get a chance to see someone called Earl Thomas who comes over to the UK annually, he is as good as the 60s musicians - he does Soul, Blues etc. and what a nice man he is to speak to.

I hoped Junior Walker and the All Stars would get a mention. 'Shotgun' and 'Road Runner' were fantastic to dance to in the 60s. A great band!

Marvin Gaye could sing the shopping list and it would still sound wonderful.

I watched and loved it - even husband enjoyed it and he's not normally ibot music.

Fabulous programme I am going to watch it again on Wednesday when my neighbour is out but at full volume this time,I won tickets to see The Stylistic's in Concert at The Empire in Liverpool yrs ago and can still remember that night singing and dancing in the isles with my sister.

I have been a major fan of Diana Ross and of course Supremes since my teens. Have seen her live 3 times but was very disappointed last time. I'm sorry to say I think she's had her day.
Love all the other artist too.

Motown is the sound track to my late teenage and early twenties. Love it. We saw Stevie Wonder, when he was Little , Four Tops, Temptations, Diana Ross - happy days. My favourites, at least today, were the Temptations.

Loved it! Motown coincided with my teenage years and I still remember the words to all the songs. Just before it was on, I watched A Hard Day's Night and really enjoyed those early Beatles songs.

I missed it! . I remember my best friend and I going to a Four Tops concert and belting out Reach out, I'll Be There. What a great night!
