Do you remember 'Love for Lydia' ? I was totally hooked on the series.

Nanabelle Sun 22-Nov-15 23:04:39

They were all so good. I managed to get Love for Lydia from either Ebay or Amazon (can't remember) and watched it again. Lovely.
I wish we could have repeats of some of these golden oldies, instead of the endless Lewis, Marple etc (even though I like them too) or cookery/house programmes.

I so enjoyed The Onedin Line , even the music was perfect

I think that some would stand the test of time, but an awful lot wouldn't, so maybe we shouldn't watch them again.

The Waltons
The Professionals
The Sweeney
Butterflies
And more recently
Spooks ( my all time favourite)
Luther (Idris Elba is sex appeal on legs!) I'm not too old to appreciate it when I see it!

The last episode of Love for Lydia was on the same night as the works Christmas Meal. We either left the meal completely or left, went home and then went back. We absolutely loved it.

Most of the above - plus Bouquet of Barbed Wire, Starsky & Hutch, A Kind of Loving are a few that spring to mind.

KatyK Mon 23-Nov-15 16:35:54

and Budgie starring Adam Faith..

Crafting Mon 23-Nov-15 17:26:44

Oh yes I loved Budgie too. Sam was so good. Going back even further I loved A for Andromeda when I was young. I thought it was very exciting like a pre Dr Who. Loved Blakes 7 as well.

Lots of memories on this thread. Great idea NanKate

Going way way back, does anyone remember The Groves, and The Appleyards? They are the earliest family 'sitcoms' I can remember. I also liked "When the boat comes in"; Rising Damp; The Forsyte Saga; All creatures great and small; The Liver Birds; Man about the house. Sure there are loads of others that elude me at the moment!

chelseababy Mon 23-Nov-15 18:59:48

Who Pays the Ferryman, set in Crete, seemed very exotic!

hildajenniJ Mon 23-Nov-15 19:24:09

I was addicted to Emergency Ward 10. I was in love with one of the doctors ( I can't remember which one though).
The Walton's.
Any historical drama. I remember watching The Flight of the Heron which got me reading the trilogy.

chloe1984 Mon 23-Nov-15 19:55:15

I really used to enjoy Compact and an afternoon programme which I think was called House Party where different ladies would come in and discuss all types of 'housewifey' things. (Not so sure I would be a fan nowadays)

rosequartz Mon 23-Nov-15 20:01:11

I used to watch 'The Sullivans'. It was an Australian soap set during WW2.

Dare I put down Mr Benn and Bod, Bagpuss and Think of a Number?

JoyBloggs Mon 23-Nov-15 20:03:42

hilda Another Emergency Ward 10 fan here... I wonder if it was Dr Dawson you were in love with? If so, you weren't alone! grin

Tegan Mon 23-Nov-15 20:44:37

I seem to recall being hooked on The Riordans for a while; must have been around the time that Gabriel Byrne [sigh] was in it.

chelseababy Mon 23-Nov-15 21:27:33

How about Heart of Darkness with Bob Peck. Van Der Balk.

durhamjen Mon 23-Nov-15 21:28:23

Edge of Darkness, with Bob Peck and Joanne Whalley.

durhamjen Mon 23-Nov-15 21:29:49

Snap, chelseababy. Heart of Darkness is a novel by Conrad, which was made into a film, but not a TV series, I do not think.

NathalieMartin Thu 26-Nov-15 11:07:01

I was a big fan of Citizen Smith, wish it would make a comeback!

Bennan Thu 26-Nov-15 14:44:00

I also loved Bonanza but was in love with Adam! I also enjoyed Quatermass which scared me to death. So spooky! Another great favourite was Compact although they had very wobbly sets. I also loved the Star Trek series which had the ship trying to find its way back to Earth (can't remember the name but it had a female captain). Dixon of Dock Green was a great family favourite back in the day. Evenin' all!

Alea Thu 26-Nov-15 15:32:37

Anybody remember Compact??
Loved it!
